Hwei-Fang Tien is a Professor of Internal Medicine and the Chief, Division of Hematology, Department of Internal Medicine at the National Taiwan University Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan.
Prof. Hwei-Fang became a Doctor of Medicine in 1977 at the College of Medicine, National Taiwan University, Taiwan. She gained her PhD at the Graduate Institute of Clinical Medicine, College of Medicine, National Taiwan University in 1990. Prof. Hwei-Fang was a Fellow at the Medical School of the National Taiwan University and the National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Health (NIH), Bethesda, Maryland. In 2008, she became a Distinguished Professor at the National Taiwan University.
Her main areas of research are in the pathogenesis of acute myeloid leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, chromosome aberrations, gene mutations, epigenetic modification and their clinical implications.
Prof. Hwei-Fang Tien has received a numerous amounts of awards including the Academic Award of the Ministry of Education, Taiwan, “Outstanding Research Award” from the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan, the “Outstanding Cancer Research Award” from the Chinese Oncology Society, Taiwan, and the ‘Outstanding Research Award for Excellent Contribution in Medical Research” from the National Taiwan University Hospital.
