Prof. Eduardo Rego is the Professor of Hematology/Oncology at the Medical School of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo. He is also the Head of the Hematology and Clinical Oncology Service of the University Hospital (HC-FMRP).
Prof. Eduardo Rego became a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) at the Medical School of Ribeirão Preto of the University of São Paulo in 1988. He did a fellowship in hematology before proceeding to complete a PhD in 1997 at the University of São Paulo. He proceeded to do a post-doctoral fellowship at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, which he completed in 2001. In 2002, Prof. Eduardo was awarded the title of a Full Professor at the University of São Paulo. He then completed a PhD in medicine at the Fox Chase Cancer Center, USA in 2005.
His main research area is in the clinical research in acute leukemias most particularly, Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL), leukemogenesis and cancer cells.
Prof. Eduardo is a Coordinator in Brazil of the International Consortium on Acute Leukemias and a member of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Hematology (ABHH). Prof. Eduardo also sits as an editor in the Brazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research and Associate and Blood and Annals of Hematology.
